Drop Down List Question - Warning if a item is used twice
I know someone much smarter than me will be able to answer this:
I have a spreadsheet with 5 tabs. The 5th tab contains a list of "Names" - John Doe, Emily Jones, Etc,
On Tab 1 - I have a list of job positions for the day, (About 80 of them)
Beside each position is a drop down box, the values of which are pulled from Tab 5.
The challenge is: I need one of the two scenarios to take place:
a) (best solution) - If a name is chosen and assigned to a "position", it is then removed from the list so that they cannot be accidentally assigned to another "Position"
or
b) IF a name is assigned twice via the dropdown box, it informs the user that the name has already been assigned.
Is this possible within the Google Docs Spreadsheet Environment?
Thank you smart people!
