Character occurences inside one cell and numerical range calculation
Hi all,
My question is this:
Is it possible to calculate numerical ranges from text strings?
Let's say for example
A1 contains the following text string of certain ID ranges: 512-514, 635, 456-460
I would like to make the following calculation:
take the first range (512-514) and calculate 3 (i.e. 512,513,514), then add 1 (635) and add 15 (456-460) for a total of 19.
Of course the combinations are not restricted to that number (may be from as few as only one number to as many ranges and/or single numbers you wish), but ranges are always denoted with a hyphen (-) and single numbers and ranges are separated by commas.
Is it possible?

following is a solution to the problem
