Trouble converting dates to a format that can be manipulated.
I'm importing a CSV file where the dates are shown like "2012-07-01 01:45:14 UTC". I have truncated the date to 2012-07-01 using =left(G7,10), but when I try to use the date in a math formula (G9+1), I get this back:41092. In other spreadsheets I have created in Google spreadsheet the date autocorrects (or something) from 2012-07-01 to 7/1/2012. I can manipulate that date. But in the spreadsheet based on an imported .csv file the autocorrect doesn't happen and I cannot manipulate the date.

I have selected a cell with a date and used the 123 button to try to format the cell as any number of date formats but nothing changes. Does anyone know if there is a function that will convert a date like 2012-07-01 to 7/1/2012? Should I have found a better way to convert the date from 2012-07-01 01:45:14 UTC to 7/1/2012?

Thanks,
Will
