How to correctly query a data set by roster
Hi there,

This is probably pretty novice, but I'm having a really tough time figuring out how to query a set of data to isolate entries that correspond in part to other (mutually exclusive) data sets.

To be more clear, I have a list of names and associated attributes. These names are of people on different teams, and no person is on multiple teams.

Goal: To make the data more manageable, I want to automate breaking the data set into team, based on the name of the person, which is contained in both a team roster as well as the data set in question.

Here's an example, where "Master response sheet" is the data in question, the rosters of two teams (Edible and Animal) are available, and the desired destination sheets are called "Registration and color info for team Edible" and ""Registration and color info for team Animal". I've tried =QUERY(Master_response_sheet!A1:A5, select A,B,C when A1!A5 contains 'team_edible_roster!A1:A6') to pull the data in for Team Edible, but that's definitely not correct.

Once you stop giggling at my incompetence, any help would surely be appreciated ;)

Warm regards,
Kat
